Spring Cleaning Challenge Week 6 - Playroom, Garage & Sunroom Week

The Spring Cleaning Challenge is done - just in time for Christmas and the school holidays! Well done if you followed along, and if not, you can always set yourself a challenge to declutter and clean your house in 6 weeks (perhaps after Christmas!), by going back through each week in the challenge (click on each link):

Week 1 - Kitchen Week
Week 2 - Laundry Week
Week 3 - Lounegroom & Study Week
Week 4 - Bathroom Week
Week 5 - Bedroom Week

Week 6 is the playroom, garage (or sunroom)! Some people may have none of these rooms, so this final week would be to declutter, clean and organise any room we haven't mentioned. If you have no unfinished rooms, go back through 1 room in your house each day and check that there is nothing else you can declutter - chucking, donating or relocating any items that shouldn't be where they are.

[We don't have a playroom, but we do have a sunroom, which I had already tackled in a previous blog post - click here. Our garage is a mammoth task, and I didn't get to it in the same week as the challenge, as I had to wait for hubby to help me with some heavy lifting and sorting. I will put up a separate blog post in the new year about decluttering and organising the garage. I will provide the daily tasks for the playroom and garage below!]

PLAYROOM/SUNROOM

Day 1 tasks:
 - Declutter toys and books
 - Tidy room by chucking, donating or relocating items that don't belong or that are no longer used
 - Remove cobwebs
 - Dust skirtings, light fixtures, vents and fans

Day 2 tasks:
 - Declutter games and puzzles
 - Clean windows and window sills
 - Dust blinds or wash curtains
 - Remove everything from cupboards, drawers, cabinets, desks and clean
 - Group like items together in baskets and place back in cupboards etc. neatly

Day 3 tasks:
 - Declutter DVD's and CD's
 - Wipe down cupboard doors, drawers, walls, main door, light switches, power points
 - Sweep or vacuum and mop or spot clean carpets and rugs

GARAGE

This is our garage... (it is a single garage, but has enough space on the left hand side for a whole other car, however it does not have access for a car to drive into)

It has had the floor re-cemented recently, so is quite tidy...

And this is the other side... where all our 'stuff' lives (and why I can keep my house so tidy!)

Very embarrassing, but now that I've posted it here, I will be accountable to you all to clean it!! We will hopefully be doing this in the next couple of days/weeks!

Continuing on with the daily tasks in the garage...

Day 4 tasks:
 - Clean out the garage. Spend an hour or so going through the garage and collect any rubbish to chuck and relocate any items that don't belong. Get rid of as much stuff as you can!

Day 5 tasks:
 - Declutter sports gear (I've just bought mini wheelie bins to store mine in - will post pics in the future garage decluttering post)
 - Go through all of your sports Items
 - Use tubs/bins/garbage bags to keep, donate, chuck or relocate items
 - Once you have decided what you want to keep, group like items together and place in labelled storage boxes

Day 6 tasks:
 - Declutter holiday d├ęcor
 - Go through all of your Christmas Items
 - Use tubs/bins/garbage bags to keep, donate, chuck or relocate items
 - Once you have decided what you want to keep, group like items together and place in labelled storage boxes

Day 7 tasks:
 - Continue cleaning and decluttering garage
 - Clear an area just outside your garage. Use tubs/bins/garbage bags to keep, donate, chuck or relocate items
 - With any items you want to keep, buy some plastic storage tubs, and label them into categories (e.g. Christmas, Sports Equipment, Girls and Boys Clothes)
 - Place items in storage tubs
 - Stack or place neatly back into garage
 - Remove cobwebs and wipe shelves, benches and cupboards
 - Sweep floor of garage

Now that the challenge is over, I will be concentrating on my Christmas series: 'So this is Christmas!' Make sure to like my facebook page to be kept updated with new blog posts!
